Andrew Milne—Founder & Owner
Certified Personal Trainer
My name is Andrew Milne and I’m the owner and founder of Figuring Out Fitness.
My passion for health and fitness started in junior high school when I first joined many sports teams so I could hang out with my friends. What began as a social activity quickly grew into a passion. I saw sporting competition as a way to test myself and grow as an athlete and an individual. I competed through high school and college, where I was part of successful track and cross country teams. That level of competition, I learned, takes a toll on the body and I suffered multiple injuries.
During summer breaks from school, I worked as a Physical Therapy Aide. This gave me the opportunity to work hands-on with a variety of injuries, chronic diseases and a geriatric population.
After my college career ended, I obtained certification as a Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. This education helped develop my skills as well as my understanding of body and health principles. Following this training, I worked as an online Personal Trainer for two years, where I practiced sharing my experience with people at all fitness levels.
Now I work as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in Seattle, Washington. I quickly realized that as rewarding as it is to help someone in crisis, I want to help as many people as possible so they never need an ambulance in the first place!
Everyone knows “diet and exercise” is the way to get healthy. It seems simple enough, until you realize just how much information—and misinformation—is out there. New fad diets and exercise videos seem to pop up every week. And on top of all that, every individual is different. That’s what inspired the name Figuring Out Fitness. I want to help everyone, from the fitness enthusiast who wants to try something new to the couch potato who hates the idea of stepping foot in a gym.
